Sperm Bank & Being Single

Book about Simona finished. Story of  prof. Simona Kossak could make a good script for Hollywood movie. Simona studied animal psychology first in Krakow, then in Bialowieza and became life-long advocate for protection of the last primeval forest in Europe - Bialowieza forest in Poland . She never separated animals from humans because, well, we all share very similar behavioural traits. For example, Simona trained men as if men were tigers. In her opinion, men are no more than sperm sacks carried around on two legs. Men are programmed to inseminate as many women as possible but as with tigers they can be trained. The key skill in the process of training is to make men (tigers) believe that they are always right. Once the tigers trust their master they will obey and walk by woman's leg like cuddly savages.  As I was enjoying Simona's biography (Thanks Monia!) I also came across stories of female humans  who were less skilled in training tigers and/or they could ...

Epically Emotional [ Or "Option B"]

I and CB   attended a launch of "Option B" - book written, and presented here in New Orleans, by Sheryl Sandberg - COO of Facebook. The audience comprised of around one thousand women and few men. What was the most eventful part of this event was the Q and A session at the end of it. All the women poured out very personal hurtful stories into the public and very poor Sheryl -  all what she could answer was to repeatedly say "I am sorry",  "I'm sorry to hear it" and  "So sorry again". One woman threw-up, fainted, and ended up being carried out by paramedics. OK - since that eventful event [ May 09, 2017 ] I finished the book. "Option B" book project was meant to help Sheryl to overcome a grief after her husband passed away suddenly in 2015. She uses vast psychological research to, if to summarize in less than 140 characters, - to prove that all humans need a lot of support to become meaningful and happy people. It seems lik...

Hopeless emptiness

I went to Perth. It is a nice slow motion city. I bought one book there. It turned out to be about Sydney: “…At the very word “philosophy” people in Sydney run away in droves, reach for revolver; the look down at their shoes, they smile indulgently, they go blank…” I do not write in English so often anymore. My friends from Switzerland employed software which translates everything into German. It hit me. Why to struggle and write in a foreign to me language then? I can’t find a good reason for it. It is probably about location. “…From being the most unphilosophical city in the world, Sydney has become the most psychological city in the world…” If you want to save money on psycho analysis please mix the book on “Pages” with movie on “Revolutionary Road” by Sam Mendes. It should shake you and awake you. It moved me yesterday night.. One asked me how is it to live in OZ land? It is first of all very easy – I answered. People here do not see it and at the same ...

Good Book (for free from library)

Image
I read books. Christina recognizes a good book much quicker than I do : ) It is absorbing me so much that I leave a little of attention to her. I take a bath with the book, I go for shopping with the book and I eat with the book: This time it was about “The Capitalism Delusion” by Bob Ellis. He brings up so many interesting arguments against free market fundamentalism that you feel like you want to throw a shoe at Bush again : ). I love the books which make me more and more awaken. Suddenly you understand more about the mechanisms turning the globe. Inspiring.

Bad Book (16.5$)

I breathe slowly, very slowly when I read the last book by Tim Winton. It has passed few months already since I grabbed that from the top shelf in a local bookstore. It is a light story. It is that light that it may happen I will never finish it. It is too long way someone describes young boys playing. This time the game name is ‘ surfing ’
