ROSmary and hoNAY

Since English language is full of exceptions why not to create one more of them especially for my private purpose : ) ? I want honey to be written like honay because it fits to my play on words. Rosemary is a very specific, intensively smelling herb and once Florka sent me to pick it up from her little garden I got lost in between the plants – me, botanist and ecologist who graduated from 7 years long study on environment. First thing I learnt is that it is used to spice up meat meals, second thing I found on wikipedia: Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves. It grows just on the right from the main door : )

Today I ate again olives from Rosnay farm – the ones I bottled myself there : ) and always in connection with the sensors on my tongue they work like time-machine. My thoughts fly back immediately to this shade where I used to work with Sael and girls. It is unique feeling, finally I know the story of what I eat in opposite to all other products bought in local supermarket. I can see that view from Rosnay hill, feel that western wind who left me with dry lips, listen to Vanuatu songs : ) etc etc….

The olive trees together with wine grapes are mentioned pretty often in the Bible. Because my country is considered as a catholic one I heard many times about them but it always sounds exotic in northern, cold Europe. Thanks to Stefan’s farm I finally know how it feels to walk across olive yard or vineyard :) Snakes in the dry grass, flies in the dry air, big sun in the sky, big sun in the sky. Even simple strolling is a hard-to-do exercise in such hot conditions.

Rosnay Farm is located on the very nice hill. One Artist made even a picture of valley with Rosnay farm on it, framed it and put it up in local gallery in Canowindra. As I remember it cost somewhere around 100$. Rosnay farm is a family business inhabited with very nice people. Rysiek– the father, Florka – the mother, and Stefan - the son (with family). Since Florka was born in Lyon you can learn to speak well both French and English in here : ) Stefan has changed my view on farming. He is very modern one – all the time closed in the office in front of the computer with non-stop working mobile phone by the ear. So after all I didn’t meet him often, more time I spent with his parents. In workplace we had almost no control on our work but nonetheless we tried to do our best in olive bottling. At home they helped me to overcome the shyness of newcomer so that after while I felt like a part of family. A lot of space, no-worries hospitality, sometimes I felt like they are able to read my thoughts. For instance they treated me with wine when I was afraid to ask for it : ). And sometimes I felt like disable because I didn’t know how to say thank You so that it would express my true gratitude. Aha…. And BBQ and party seem to be a constant part of local life : ) And one more aha: since the things go slowly in Sydney (in order to get job at university I need to have pass IELTS exam and first free test date in on 4th April) we agreed with Stefan that I can combine working and studing at Rosnay farm once again : ) – Super! This time I will take my brand new digital camera and make a lot of photos : )

And Marysia – the baby - daughter of Stefan and Stefania. She understands that language is a very flexible thing. No one is able to convince her so far that bear in English doesn’t go like poobear. And try to ask her what poobear likes? She will burst out with the most joyful smile, screaming from the top of her lungs that poobear like honaaaaay! : )

Ps.
I replaced true names of my characters with truly popular Polish names. (True names You can find here: www.rosnay.com).
