New Invention

From the moment we're born, we begin to die. But death is actually a fairly new invention. Death has been around, as a natural way of life, for only a small percentage of the time that life has been on our planet!
Our planet is about 4.6 billion years old. (A Billion is 1,000 million.) Life began about 3.8 billion years ago - and for most of that 3.8 billion years, living creatures were effectively immortal, and did not die. From 3.8 billion years ago, to one billion years ago, each living creature was made up of a single cell. So a single-celled creature would grow to a certain size, and then split into two, and each of those two cells would then keep on growing until they divided and so forth. These single-celled creatures would never die of old age. They might die from being run over by a rolling stone, or by being eaten by another bigger single-celled creature - but apart from that they would not die.

Sometimes I think that we were created as highly-organized organism to provide all those single-celled beings with home. Group work is always more effective. Doesn’t it feel like we live in sort of Matrix movie where someone fully control us? Does human being lies him/herself about being individual. To what extent we can control our lives - We even don’t know the hour when we die. Dying is sort of losing a contact at the human level. All the rest insight is still working. All micro-creatures start to reorganize themselves; the chemical compounds are used again and again. Spirit of creation stays with us. There is a spirit behind every living we can’t mentally understand but we all are proof for its existence.

Once I was told that Love is the strongest feature of Spirit. We are all asked (either through Pop songs or priest’s homily) to develop it. It is kind of power physicians can’t grab and comprehend but it is here among us. So I was also deeply moved by the story of Eluana Englaro. Italy court granted her father a right to kill her via euthanasia by removing her feeding tube. Eluana Englaro has been in what doctors term a so-called vegetative state following a car accident and has received food and water via a feeding tube. She turned to be like a plant. After 17 years of taking care he stopped watering his beloved plant-girl. There is a lot of cruel logic in it, a lot of suffer, lack of Hope and lack of Faith. Who really died at that time? This father needs a lot of support now I think.
